This Tuesday, April 29 at 11:30 a.m., Mexico will carry out a National Earthquake Drill. This is only a simulation — not an actual earthquake — but it plays a key role in preparing us for real emergencies.
What to expect:
- The seismic alert will sound in at least 12 states.
- You may receive text messages as part of the drill.
- Schools, hospitals, public and private institutions, and businesses across the country will take part. Follow all instructions from Civil Protection authorities to ensure an effective response.
During the drill, remember:
- Remain calm and respond as if it were a real emergency.
- Do not run or push — move quickly and safely to a secure area.
- If indoors, take cover under a solid table or next to a structural wall.
- Use emergency exits calmly and orderly if evacuation is necessary.
- Head to the previously designated meeting point in your building or institution.
Preparedness saves lives. This drill is an opportunity to strengthen our emergency plans and foster a culture of safety in our communities. Your participation makes a difference!
