For over a decade, María Karenia Hernández Vallejo has been at the forefront of cultural transformation in Guanajuato. As the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Primer Depósito since July 2019, she has ushered in a period of innovation and growth for the arts in the region. Her extensive background includes leading institutions such as the Casa Diego Rivera Museum, the Museum of the People of Guanajuato, and serving as the director of Guanajuato’s Network of Museums from 2018 to 2019.
Hernández Vallejo’s vision goes beyond traditional museum management. She has prioritized creating inclusive spaces where art sparks meaningful connections within the community. One of her standout projects is the Azul Añil Gallery at the Primer Depósito Museum, celebrated for its vibrant contribution to contemporary art.
