The International Cervantino Festival (FIC) is a celebration of culture and the arts that has become an emblem of Guanajuato and an eagerly anticipated event for art enthusiasts from around the world. This year, the 52nd edition of the festival promises to be an unforgettable experience, with activities scheduled from October 11 to 27, 2024.

The unveiling of the festival’s official image is always a highlight, and this year, the creativity and local talent have shone through the work of Jazmín Bedolla García, a graphic design student at the University of Guanajuato. Her design captures the essence of two emblematic festivities: the Dance of the Tiliches from Oaxaca and the Bumba-Meu Boi from Maranhão, Brazil. These festivals are rich in history, color, and joy, elements that are reflected in the vibrant image that will represent the FIC this year.

This year, the festival has the honor of featuring Brazil and Oaxaca as special guests. Brazil’s presence is particularly significant as it coincides with the Dual Year “Presence of Mexico in Brazil and of Brazil in Mexico,” celebrating 190 years of diplomatic friendship between the two countries. This collaboration promises to enrich the festival with a variety of performances including dance, gastronomy, literature, and more, offering a window into the rich culture and folklore of Brazil.

Oaxaca, known for its rich indigenous heritage and exceptional cuisine, will bring much more than the traditional Guelaguetza to the FIC. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in dances, crafts, and flavors that represent the pre-Hispanic roots and diversity of its indigenous peoples.

The 52nd edition of the International Cervantino Festival promises to be a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and culture. With the participation of local and international talents, Guanajuato is preparing to welcome the world in a festival of art and brotherhood that transcends borders and unites hearts. The activity schedule will be announced on July 16. See you in Guanajuato to experience the magic of Cervantino!
