León, Guanajuato, May 13, 2025 — In the heart of León’s historic downtown, at the iconic Antigua Plaza de Gallos, the Government of the State of Guanajuato officially launched the Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe! 2025 Gastronomic Season—a key initiative aimed at positioning the state as one of Mexico’s top destinations for food and wine tourism.
From May 31 to July 27, Guanajuato will host 24 culinary events across 21 municipalities over nine weeks celebrating the best of its cuisine, culture, and people. The launch was led by David Ayala, Director of Tourism Product Development, who emphasized the collective nature of the program—a result of collaboration between traditional cooks, chefs, winemakers, craft brewers, mezcal producers, restaurateurs, and local authorities.
“Every dish, every glass of wine or mezcal, tells a living, authentic story—one that is proudly Guanajuatense,” Ayala told the press, state officials, and representatives of the gastronomy sector.
The 2025 Gastronomic Season aims not only to delight palates but also to boost the local economy, encourage tourism during the low season, and establish Guanajuato as a national and international culinary benchmark with a strong sense of identity.
Beyond its rich cuisine, Guanajuato proudly boasts its official appellations of origin for tequila and mezcal, as well as well-established wine and craft beer routes—elements that enhance the tourist experience and connect local traditions with the global market.
Key goals of the program include promoting new culinary talents, certifying traditional cooks, and strengthening the food supply chain through events that encourage sustainability and innovation without losing sight of their roots.
The season will culminate with the Endemic Festival, a celebration of the state’s native ingredients reinterpreted through avant-garde cuisine.
Through this initiative, Guanajuato offers more than just a calendar of events—it delivers a sensory and cultural experience that reaffirms its motto: “Guanajuato, ¡Sí Sabe!” An open invitation to live, savor, and share a cuisine that evolves while preserving its essence.
