What are the harvests?
Harvests are celebrations held to commemorate the grape harvest, the fruit used to make wine. During the harvests, visitors can participate in activities such as grape stomping, wine tasting, regional cuisine, vineyard and winery tours, concerts, cultural shows, and religious ceremonies.
When and where are the harvests held in Guanajuato?
The harvest season in Guanajuato extends from August to October and takes place in different municipalities of the state, such as Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, Comonfort, San Francisco del Rincon, and San Felipe. Some of the places where the harvests take place are:
- Cuna de Tierra Vineyard: located in Dolores Hidalgo, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Guanajuato. Its harvest will take place on August 28 and will feature live music, gourmet food, guided tastings, and raffles.
- Caminos D’Vinos Vineyard: also in Dolores Hidalgo, this vineyard offers a unique experience with its organic and biodynamic wines. Its harvest will take place on September 4 and will feature activities such as yoga, meditation, workshops, and concerts.
- Dos Búhos Vineyard: located in San Miguel de Allende, this vineyard is characterized by its colonial architecture and contemporary art. Its harvest will take place on September 11 and will offer a four-course menu paired with its wines, as well as music and dance.
- Toyán Vineyard: located in San Miguel de Allende, this vineyard is the only one in Mexico with an underground cellar. Its harvest will take place on September 18 and will feature a pre-Hispanic ritual, a blessing mass, a tour of the cellar, and a party with a DJ.
- La Santísima Trinidad Vineyard: located in San Miguel de Allende, this vineyard is part of a complex that includes a cheesery, a lavender farm, and a boutique hotel. Its harvest will take place on September 25 and will feature a religious ceremony, a countryside brunch, a wine tasting, and a concert.
