The Primer Depósito Art Museum, an independent and self-sustaining space, opened its doors in June 2012 thanks to the initiative of Guanajuato artist Mtro. Javier Hernández “Capelo.” Located in an old mansion on Pósitos Street in the historic center of Guanajuato, the museum is situated in a vibrant cultural neighborhood, surrounded by museums, galleries, and artist studios.

The museum’s permanent collection includes works by renowned Mexican visual artists such as José Luis Cuevas, Sergio Hernández, Gabriel Macotela, Alberto Castro Leñero, Manuel Felguérez, Vladimir Cora, Arturo Rivera, and Jazzamoart. A particularly valuable part of the museum’s collection is the works of Mtro. Capelo, highlighted in his exhibitions “Al Tauro Mira” and “Los Jerónimos.”

The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
